The colonist were farmers and they had a living to make in this new land. This meant hard work removing the forest and draining the wetlands to make way for their sheep and cattle.
The lowlands forests succumbed to the European colonist within a generation or two of their arrival.
This area with the help of the community a restoration programme to restore areas of Queen Elizabeth Park to an earlier known wetland environment. Parts of the coastal park were historically swampy and created a habitat for a wide variety of plants and other wildlife
Recently a series of ditches and swales have been formed to recreate this wetland area. Planting, weed and pest control was carried out by friends of the park and Greater Wellington Regional Council.

The park is open daily from 8am to dusk.

You are looking for a 1 litre round camo container with logbook, a pen and a few swaps, there is also enough room for trackables.
Please do not post any photos of the final GZ as we really don't want to spoil it for other cachers. Please replace it back to the exact position that you found it as we don't want it to be muggled as this location is a VERY high muggle location.
