This cache is to commemorate the Tornado that swept thru Albany on 3 May 2011 weaving a path of destruction which left buildings damaged, cars and many other things hurled in the air and around the area.There were a number of casualties, however when reviewing the event on all the videos and pictures taken at the time, it was obvious that there could have a lot more.
From where the cache is placed, you would have had a close up view of the most dramatic part of the event.
The old Placemakers building to the west had a large amount of its roof torn off, luckily some of the roofers working there were able to scramble to safety as they saw the Tornado approaching.One yellow car was picked up and deposited some 30 meters away.It would have been quite frightening to be a part of the whole thing.
The cache is a simple mint tin. Park right in front of it to give you a bit of cover, its quite exposed. BYOP
