Geocache Description:

The village of Langham was probably there during the time of the Roman occupation of Britain.

There are burial mounds near to the North of the village (if seen from the air) which suggest activity from around this period. Certainly, during Saxon times, this village was registered under the name "Laingaham" in the Domesday book During the 2nd World War, the airfield at Langham (and Boxted) was one of the main bases for US air personnel with three groups stationed there during the war period. It is noted on the Langham village website that the airfield was visited by Glenn Miller and his band in 1943!

There is a lot more history about the village on the village's website. I have added a link to the page as part of the cache information. You are looking for a bison placed near to the traditional Langham village sign.

A special mention to markzsalmon for her assistance in getting this cache set up. She has put herself out in order to help me continue my "Welcome to..." series and I'm very grateful to her. Thank you.
