The next in the Hitchhiker's Guide series, the cache is placed close to Rode Heath Rise.
Rode Heath Rise is an open space with meadows and woodlands on the site of a former salt works. Today it is managed as a meadow and in summer butterflies and other insects feed on the nectar of wild flowers. The meadow is cut each autumn after the wild flowers have shed their seed, ready for the following spring.
Situated next to the Trent and Mersey Canal it is a great place to rest for a while if you are on a circular walk. The meadow runs down to the Lawton Brook which is crossed by a footbridge. There are great walks from here to The Salt Line and along the canal towards Sandbach.
Parking is available at The Broughton Arms pub which is located next to the site and provides food and drink and is open all day every day.
The cache is a small black tub, hidden alongside Lawton Brook. There is a small circular walk from the canal towpath through the woodland. Co-ords have been checked by two separate devices, but please allow a little leeway for the heavy tree cover.
