Geocache Description:

This Micro is here to welcome you to Bondi Beach and introduce you to other Bondi Geocaches. No room for swaps.

Bondi Beach.
Bondi Beach gets it's name from the Aboriginal word for "breaking of waves".

The beach was once the private property of William Roberts. It was purchased from him by Edward Smith Hall for his daughter Georgina who was married to Francis O'Brien.
Locals will recognise most of those names as street names around Bondi & Rose Bay.

Francis O'Brien opened the beach to the public in 1855 as a picnic ground.

This Photo shows Bondi in 1842 from Tegg's Almanac. It describes Bondi as a place of "peculiar loneliness"
