This cache is located on the higher Northern end of the slag
bank with great 360° views of the area.
There are views of the Lake District Fells to the North, The Isle
of Man is often visible to the West and Anglesey is sometimes
visible to the South.

This cache is located on one of the highest parts of the slag bank;
this area is made up molten slag which has mainly set as solid
rock. Reducing the slag bank came to a halt when it was less cost
effective to remove the slag. There was talk of blasting the slag
bank but this was unpopular with nearby residence who were worried
about the dust that would have been caused by blasting the slag
bank. The slag contains heavy metals that could be hazardous to
health with long term exposure.
This cache is located next to a very steep incline so whatever you
do don’t head toward the East. The best directions to descend
from this point are to the North or South. If you head toward the
West you will pick up a track which you can follow to the North or
South.
