Geocache Description:



The Mechanics Institute at Kurting on The Calder Highway.

This is another drive by in our Calder# series, aimed mostly at travelling motorists on their way to heaven knows where, with little time to spare.
On the left hand side of the Highway going to Mildura, GZ is at the disused Keating Grain Silo site which, in its day must have been a bustling site with trucks and horses and carts hauling grain from the surrounding countryside.
Now there is virtually nothing to show for it but the Silos and the Old Mechanics Institute, which is situated on the other side of the highway. We have often commented on the beauty of this building, which is rapidly falling into disrepair. There is still time to enjoy this relic before the Vandals completely ruin it.
To turn an ordinary Cache into something a little more interesting, we have thrown in an extra challenge.

Your Mission.....should you choose to accept it .....
is to retrieve the log, sign it and to replace it, without getting out of your car.

Replacing the container properly is essential as this is where Muggle Mothers pick up and drop off their Muggle Offspring for the School Bus.
The container is a piece of water pipe about 35mm diameter by 100mm long and there is no room for a plastic bag; log and pencil only. Please inform us if the log gets damp as other arrangements will need to be made.
