ALOHA from O'ahu
---Lanikai Beach---
Lanikai, a neighborhood within Kailua, on the windward coast of O'ahu, Hawai'i is home to Lanikai Beach, a small half-mile long beach that has been consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world. Adjacent to Lanikai Beach is a primarily upper-class neighborhood. Lanikai Beach is public property and only accessible through public beach access paths. Although the beach itself is public property, it is not a state or county beach park like many beaches in Hawai'i. There are no restrooms, showers, lifeguards or parking facilities.
During the weekdays the beach is relatively quiet, but on weekends during peak tourist season it can become extremely crowded. Lanikai is a popular spot for renown photographers and models to do beach photo shoots.
Cautions:
Beware of Portuguese Man-of-War (jellyfish) and stinging limu (seaweed) especially from June through September. Always monitor ocean conditions closely. Obey all postings and warning signs on the beach and on neighborhood streets.
Consider parking at Kailua Beach Park and doing a 15–20-minute walk to Lanikai Beach. Access points are on Mokulua Drive at the intersections of Kaelepulu Dr., Mokemanu Dr., Kaiolena Dr., Haokea Dr., or Kualima Dr.
