Almost the forgotten cache! I placed this cache 6 months ago and it was originally to be part of the Somewhere on Dartmoor series, but I eventually found some better locations. I checked on it recently and it was completely undisturbed and in pristine condition. Beardown Man is one of my favourite locations on Dartmoor and I have been there many times.
Beardown Man is one of only 12 menhirs still standing on the open moor, and although only the second tallest at 3.5m (above ground) it is in my opinion the king of the menhirs. It is the most remotely sited menhir and the one at the highest altitude of 542m.
I would like to thank the Dartmoor National Park Authority for their kind permission to allow me to place this cache.
The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map & compass (and know how to use them) in addition to your GPS.
