Geocache Description:

Lochan Dubha and the Old Road
One of a short series of caches at historic locations around Skye

In the 'Good Old Days', many of the roads across Skye were single track, with passing places - a delight to travel from one point of view, but a nightmare on busy days. The road down to Armadale was one of the first to be improved, to cater for the weight of traffic coming to the island via the ferry terminal.

The many lochans that flanked the road are still there, as is the old road, a lovely reminder of days gone by, alas no longer motorable, but a delight to walk, and great for a picnic, if you want somewhere out-of-the-way.

There is room to park briefly at N 57 13.269, W005 50.682, and to turn this cache almost into a drive-by.
