WWII Veteran's Memorial
WWII is the only time in history that a full-scale military attack has been waged against American soil by a foreign country. 7:00 AM Sunday morning December 7, 1941, 353 Japanese planes launched an attack in waves against the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii killing over 2,400 and wounding nearly 1,300 in less than an hour.

That was just the initial attack that pulled the U.S. into a world war where American service members fought throughout the world against multiple countries. Battles were fought in Europe, The Atlantic, and throughout the Pacific (where the Japanese were attempting to establish strongholds). Many of the countries that were then our enemies are now our allies. WWII veterans who are still alive are becoming rare being in their late 70’s or older. It won’t be long from today that we will say farewell to the last survivor of WWII. This memorial is listed as a historical marker in Wisconsin. A special thanks to Parks Director Raymond M. for permission to place this cache. Please watch for muggles and put the cache back exactly where it was. The original cache was in the bench behind you on W 11th, It was muggled four times forcing me to relocate it.
