Geocache Description:

A rare and wonderful prairie find. This water tower was erected in 1927 to provide a reliable source of water for steam locomotives. It was designated a historical site by the Government of Alberta in 1983. Very photogenic.

From the New Brigden Web site:

"The NB water tower was erected to provide a reliable water source to the early steam locomotives. The last train into New Brigden was on July 29, 1979. The water tower was termed an Historic Site in 1983 by the provincial government"

New Brigden no longer has any services for visitors so you'll want to grab your snacks or purchase fuel in the nearby Town of Oyen or Village of Consort.

The locals are friendly and supportive of the geocache, so you're liable to get a friendly wave and maybe even a history lesson. :-)

Bring a camera with you -- there's lots in the area to photograph.
