Another cache in a set of hikes up to Puu'olai's cinder cone hills. You may encounter nude hikers at top of knobs since this is above Maui's famous Little Beach. Best accessed from highway side at yellow metal gate. Park at side of highway and walk across street to rough dirt road. Do not try from Black Sand beach or between Big and Little Beach where it says trail closed due to sheer cliffs!! Gate is locked at 7:45 pm!!! Bring pen.
This hike can be nicer if you park at Big Beach, then hike to ocean. Turn right (North) and hike on sand to Lava flow, then climb up and over to Maui's famous Little Beach, which is clothing optional.
Go halfway across Little Beach, then turn away from ocean and head uphill on game trails. Scenic views will be your reward. Be careful of the thorny shrubs, and wear sandals. Stay away from cliffs!
Don't be afraid of Little Beach, it's friendly to all, young and old, and won't hurt anyone. You might even try it yourself! If you go there Sunday at 5 pm and see firedancers and drummers and people dancing and having fun, watching gorgeous sunset, many are dressed then, some are not!
Don't take pictures of people at Little Beach without asking them first!
