There is no evidence of a church having stood at Hampton in Saxon times, though a priest is mentioned in the doomsday book, so it is thought to have been there in 1315. The ancient parish church of Holy Trinity is cruciform on plan, comprising chancel, central tower, transepts, and aisled and clerestoried nave. Only the tower and transepts survive from the medieval church, the remainder having been rebuilt.
In 1842 the church underwent a ruthless restoration so only parts of the ancient work remained after this time. The tower carries a truncated spire finished with battlements and finials; the spire had taken that form by the early 18th century when the top was said to have been removed because of its instability. The top of the spire was possibly removed in 1560.
The east window was designed by a Mr. Burges in 1865. The lower part represents the Saviour’s conflicts while the upper his triumph. The south window, is very fine, consists of a rose or wheel with eight radiating arms enclosing sixteen equilateral compartments.
Area is near the school and is a great place for dog walkers so care is required. Parking can be found nearby.
This is a small magnetic container, so please bring your own pencil.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
