Geocache Description:

A Nano. Can be found 24/7 as it is on the outside of the park. It is also wheelchair-accessible.

Having recently moved into the area we decided to link two of our local parks- Wanstead park and Valentines Park. Valentines Park is remains of the Gardens of Valentines Mansion. A Gentlemans residence originally built for for Lady Tillotson, the widow of the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1696. It was bought by the local council in 1906 after its last resident Sarah Ingleby died. The Park was created over a peroid of 25 years as Ilford Borough Council bought various pieces of Land for local people to enjoy. County cricket was played in the park for a number of years from the 1920s. This cache is placed close to the ground of the Ilford Cricket club. We intend to extend this caches into a series and therefore recommend to wait unless you are local and want a first to find.
