Geocache Description:

The Roxburgh Branch (Railway) Series.

"Wayside Stations"

Coming down the hill from the Round Hill Tunnel the engine drivers must have got a buzz out of putting on some speed and pounding along this straight flat stretch towards Waitahuna.

Adam Johnston was Resident Engineer of the Clutha railway and been responsible for much of the survey of the line as far as Lawrence. He had recently moved into this area but on 23rd of January 1874 he was thrown off a horse and was killed. Only 35 years old he was regarded as a “thorough master of his profession”. He was married to Miss Forsyth.

In his honour the station here was given his name although miss-spelled as Johnstone.
The site comprised of a passenger platform, a shelter shed and a back shunt siding facing towards Roxburgh

Looking due South from where the plastic box is hidden you will see the "way" flanked by an avenue of trees. I found this very striking.

It's a 200ml clear Klipit.

Congratulations ....Adventure Tharon ..... FTF
