Geocache Description:

This cammo'd container has items for trade and a $5 Subway gift card as a first-to-find prize. While the walk isn't bad, it gets a little hairy near the cache. Perhaps this is not a spot for smaller kids.

Orenaug Park (Woodbury, CT), deeded to the town in 1892 by Susan B. Shove, features a simple trail system providing visitors with a mixture of woodlands, rocky ledges, ponds, and overviews.

At the trail's peak is a fire tower that offers views of the surrounding area. When the hawks are soaring, it is a great spot to see them in flight and try to grab a photo. (Notes: There are steep (single file) stairs that lead up to an enclosed observation deck. Perhaps 3 to five people can fit comfortably.)

As you walk up this trail, you'll notice a few trails that go off to the left. There are some great views that way of "downtown" Woodbury and beyond. Just be careful.

There are two ways to access Orenaug Park - from Town Hall complex at the intersection of Routes 6 and 317 and from Park Road. No matter where you start your hike, if you include a short stroll on Main Street, that extends the trails, makes for a bigger loop, and gets you close to a bunch of our caches.

The Park Road entrance is a bit more exciting, although parking is limited. There is a small pond there and some short rock ledges. The pond is public, even though it looks as though it is a part of a nearby residence. There are benches and some grass to relax a short while (if the mosquitos aren’t out).

Also on Park Road is the Highwire Deer and Animal Farm where visitors are encouraged to pet deer, ostrich, camel, and zebra and learn about them from the handlers.

Not far from the Park Road entrance are Woodbury's War Memorials on Main Street, Woodbury Catering and Deli, and the Hollow (early Woodbury).
