Cannon Fire! Walk towards the main headland from the car park, enter the fort through the site of the old drawbridge. Look left as you enter the fort for the old cannons on the ramparts. These are Napoleonic forts that are over 200 years old, built to protect the British Naval Fleet that would anchor in Torbay for supplies.
Search near the cannons for your cache, hawthorn is hiding it.
This is one of many official English Riviera Geopark caches hidden at key sites around the English Riviera – a UNESCO Global Geopark. Each cache is located somewhere of significant interest and aims to teach something about this wonderful Geopark.
Geoparks aims to protect geo-diversity and to promote geological heritage to the general public as well as to support sustainable economic development of the area, primarily through the development of geological tourism.
This particular cache was hidden in May 2011 as part of the annual English Riviera Geopark Festival.
