This view is another of our favourites which looks out over the mouth of the River Gannel and across the dunes to the whole expanse of Crantock Bay.
The Fernpit boathouse is seen on the opposite side of the estuary. This and the Fernpit residence building higher up the hillside together with the farmhouses were among the earliest buildings erected on Pentire. Presently, the residents fish the local area and during the Summer Holiday season operate a cafe, permissive footbridge across the river and a ferry at high tide.
REQUEST: Please do not try to reach the cache by climbing up from the riverbed in the estuary. You need to be on the higher, official Coast Path which can be accessed from the Crantock Beach car park.
Cache placed with the kind permission of THE NATIONAL TRUST.
