Dunas Douradas [Vale do Lobo]

This cache is near to the beach and close to the pond of Dunas Douradas.

In Garrão, which appears in the continuity of Vale do Lobo, the cliffs give way to vast dune fields, covered with typical vegetation, which will spread to the sand barriers near Ria Formosa. The beach along two valleys divided by low cliffs: the valley to the west formed the so-called Dunas Douradas Lagoon, in the valley to the east appears the smaller Garrão Lagoon. Both wetlands are freshwater, a rarity in the coastline, and very desirable for waterfowl.
Marginal to the promenade of Lake Golden Dunes invites the visitor to observe the various birds that feed here, rest or nest.
The row of pine trees that come from Quarteira, here with her natural understorey, runs along the mirrors of water, offering protection and safeguard to aquatic life. A network of walkways across the dunes, by walking along them the visitor can observe the rich and aromatic flora of sands.
