BOFOR


Welcome to another Blacklegend cache hide.... This was a cache hide of opportunity. I had to go to some dancing practice nearby for my eldest daughters deb... So while waiting, i spotted this a short walk away.



What is this though...? Well it is one of the best example of a Bofor 40mm Anti Aircraft gun i have seen. It is the same type of gun as is the subject of my "A Nation's Defense" cache in Tocumwal, except this one is wheel mounted and the Tocumwal example is ground mounted.

Also on this gun is an information plaque and original plates on the battery enclosure. There is also another plate on the other side of the gun on the chassis which gives the original model and serial numbers. It is extremely well preserved / restored.



As for the hide itself, well it is a bison tube hidden on the road side to give a bit of shelter from muggles who may be watching from inside the RSL. The cache is in an obvious spot for this sort of hide. This cache is about bringing you to a fantastic location and viewing a piece of history.
