CASACASTALDA
Il paese sorge su di un colle a 521 mt. s.l.m. , ed è
circondato
da verdi colline.
La sua forma a "diamante" coincide con la pianta del castello
con
tre porte di accesso.
La piazza è dominata dalla Chiesa Parrocchiale dedicata a
Santa
Maria Assunta.
Un altra chiesa particolare è il Santuario della Madonna
dell'Olmo,
(1484) in seguito all'apparizione della Madonna ad una
pastorella
su di un olmo conservato all'interno.
PRIMA MONUMENTO AL MONDO DEDICATO AL "MOTOCICLISTA"
Il monolite è constituito da un unico blocco in pietra
serena,nel quale è stato ricavato un foro avente la forma di
un
motociclista in piega.
Su lato parallelo alla strada sono scolpite sulla pietra il
nome
del luogo e le coordinate geografiche: mentre sulla parte
superiore
della stesso, sono stati realizzati dei fori che allineati
geograficamente, indicano le principali località della terra
(Cape
Nord, Pechino, Città del Capo ecc.) con le rispettive
distanze
chilometriche che le separano da questo luogo simbolo.
CASACASTALDA
At an elevation of 521 m. a.s.l. rises the little village
Casacastalda surrounded by green hills and valleys.
It has the form of a diamond , there are 3 old maingates and
the
resting of the tower of a big castle.
The medieval centre is original , with many historical houses
and
dominated by the parish church Santa Maria Assunta.
An other particular church is the Sanctuario della Madonna
dell`Olmo, (1484) where the Virgin is said to appear to a
shepherd
girl in an elm tree; a branch of that old tree can be seen
inside
the church.
FIRST MONUMENT IN THE WORLD FOR ALL MOTOCYCLISTS.
The statue is made of one piece of natural stone, in which
is
made the form of an motorcyclist in action.
On one side of the stone are written the coordinates (not
exactly,
look for yourself) and on the other sides some important places
and
cities in the world. (Cape Town, Beijing, North Cape etc.)
with
their distances to this statue. This is the first and only
monument
dedicated to all motocyclists of the world.
