Chapter 1:-
When Inspector David Macpearson arrived at the scene a small crowd had gathered behind the cordon. He nodded at John Talbot while inquiring was anybody taken photos of the crowd in case the murderer had decided to be in the crowd. John acknowledged that one of the dectivies was posing as a press photographer and had that covered.

The two of them walked into the old detached deserted house and up the stairs. The body was in the biggest bedroom and the coroner was already determining time of death. David went over to the coroner as he was pulling the temperature gauge out of the body. Without looking up at David he automatically announced that the body had been killed approx. 12 hours before. David looked at his watch just to check but he already knew that would have been 10.30pm the night before. David watched while the coroner started to exam the body in detail before he asked John who found the body.

John automatically responded that some local teenagers had come across the body when they arrived for a day of wagging of school. There statements had been taken; the school and their parents had been informed. David nodded not taking his eyes of the coroner and the body. Before the coroner got a chance to call for David he was over beside him at the head of the body.
‘The tongue has been cut out’ the coroner announced while examing the mouth more closely.

‘Before or after death?’ David asked while kneeling down beside the coroner to get a better look.

‘I’ll know better after a full post mortem but I would say before’

‘Would that have caused death as there doesn’t seem to be any more wounds?’

‘Know more once the post mortem has been carried out’ the coroner responded and then added ‘She wasn’t killed here there is no blood in the surrounding area this is the dump site’

‘Thanks’ David replied as he raised to standing position ‘I’ll catch up with you later’. He turned to John as a blinding flash from a camera went off on the other side of the room. ‘Why trail/carry the body all the way up stairs, why not just dump the body down stairs or even in one of the barns?’

John nodded his agreement that this could be significant to the murder investigation but now they needed to leave the room and the house to let the forensic team do their job.

Congratulations to Ben_Madigan on FTF.
