Look Out........BELOW! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mother Wolf: It seems it is also time to archive this cache. It tends to wonder around the area too much & since I can no longer get to this area as often as I would like the best thing is to put this cache in the vaults. It has had a good run & thanks to everyone that came by, on numerous occasions. Thanks to my reviewers who have also been very tolerant of my neglect. This 1 is now history. Mother Wolf

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a pill bottle type. T-rating is a 1.5 because although the trail is paved the rest of the way isn't. PLEASE replace it so it can't be seen from the path. TY ***DO NOT CLIMB UP ON THE PLATFORM. IT IS NOT VERY STURDY***

This is just about where it all started for MAGC(Military Association of GeoCachers). In February of 2006 FalconLoader & TrevRnR started another branch off of the main tree of geocaching. This newly forming Geocaching group would consist of Military members, their families, Retirees, Honorably discharged Vets and those who desire to support the troops.

The primary reasons to join this group would be:

# Share the fun of GeoCaching with other like minded individuals

# Aide those new to an area from PCS in learning their new home and giving them a chance to meet local cachers

# Helping those that are TDY “hit” some of the local cache

# Give the Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Marines off duty time with their “extended military family”

The 1st M&G was held right here at Greenbury in early summer 2006. Since that time we have acquired members from every corner of the globe. We have interacted with our sister caching organizations in our respective states & shared with states that don't have their own specific caching organization. At that 1st M&G several caches were placed here at Greenbury Nature Center area. 1 of them was just a few ft from this cache & a classic that has since been archived. It seemed only right that a cache was placed as close as possible to that location so here it is.

*****So Welcome to the Greenbury Nature Area.*****

There is about 5.5 miles of trails that you can walk or bike along here at Greenbury Point. This is open to the public but is owned by the Naval Academy,(NO MILITARY ID IS NEEDED TO ACCESS THIS LOCATION), HOWEVER be sure to obey any & all caution signs you may see. You can enjoy the trails & views between sunup & sundown. There is no fee & there is parking at the Nature Center.

Over the past 2 yrs much of this area has been let go back to Mother Nature so it is quite overgrown in areas. Some of the area is restoration wild life areas so watch for those signs. There is an abundance of wildlife out here to see. Along the water areas be very careful as there are some slither residents that in the spring & early summer tend to be a bit more aggressive. AVOID them, they will appreciate it. Traffic along the roads is light but still be careful.

Military involved in PT have the right of Way, YIELD to them.

ENJOY!
