Geocache Description:

George Bible was possibly the first settler in Superior Township, Williams County (OH) ca 1834. Another family disputes it but there is no way to say which came first, but George gets the credit in the history books. He was a great marksman and one time bet a neighbor he could kill the most deer in a two month period. He won but was disappointed that he had only 99 and couldn't make it an even 100 when the time was up. He is credited with naming our township and gave it the name Superior as he believed it to be superior to all others around.

George & Elizabeth had 9 children - Adam (Daddy), Charles, Magdalena, Katherine, George W, Elizabeth, Margaret (Peggy), Lovis and Mary.

George lived in Tuscarawas, Cochoston and Muskingum Counties in OH before coming to Williams County. None of the children were born in Williams County but all came here to live.

Daddy Bible had 7 children and his sister Lovis, who married William Gaskill, had 10 children and the others a couple so there are many descendants yet around Williams County. Daddy Bible was the only one of the Bible sons to have descendants to carry on the Bible name of which there is at least 1 George Bible, a 5th generation, still living in Williams County OH.
