My uncle Murray was a quirky guy. Super bright when you could get him to talk, but he was very sketchy/skittish, if you know what I mean. He, his hound Bo, and his girlfriend Dotty, lived out in the country on a small piece of property surrounded by "No Trespassing" signs and locked gates. They were pretty exclusive or, sorry, reclusive.. you know what I mean. I never even got to see the inside of their house.
Anyway, one day they just up and vanished. A few days later, the cops started sniffing around, asking questions. And then the feds. And then some guys that wouldn't even say who they worked for. We even caught private investigators sniffing around our place looking for who-knows-what!
None of them would tell me why they were looking for my uncle, and I told them everything I've told you. Eventually all the activity died down and everybody moved on with their lives. This all happened many, many years ago.
So a year or so ago, I get this card in the mail. It had no return address, and it was postmarked from Costa Rica:
You can have my car and everything else we left behind... if you can find it! Catch the wave!
Followed by a bunch of squiggly lines. I've done my best to reproduce them here, although I have no idea whether they're meaningful.
I went back out and searched for answers in his old abandoned house. I didn't find a car or anything else of value. Although I have to say, I didn't think my uncle was the kind of guy to have such awful wallpaper up all over the house!
