Another of the long
forgotten schools who crumbled remains are scattered around the
countryside on the Yorke Peninsula, forever reminding us of the
early days when our ancestors attended these schools to gain an
education..
Nothing remains of the Wembley
School, located at Wembley Corner on the cross-roads of the
Wallaroo-Alford Road and the Kadina-Tickera Road, except a pile of
rocks.
The school after it's closure
was used by the local farmer to store grain, but became to unstable
even for that and was demolished.
There was a plaque at the
school but upon investigating the area, this was obviously
demolished with the building.
There is not a lot of
information about the School, but by the photo and write up in the
Local newspaper it was used in the early 20th century.
There is no need to enter
private property to retreive this cache.
