Livigno ski Traditional Cache

Livigno, in provincia di Sondrio, a 1800mt. slm., è il comune più settentrionale della Lombardia ed il più popolato tra tutti i comuni italiani sopra i 1500 mt. di altitudine.
Il paese si snoda lungo i 15km di strada che percorre l'intera valle attraversata dal torrente Spöl (in origine chiamato "Aqua Granda"), le cui acque entrano nel fiume Inn e da qui dentro al Danubio.

Livigno è sito su un terreno che originariamente era di proprietà del Convento dei Cappuccini di Mazzo e che fu ceduto alla Comunità di Bormio in cambio d'una botte di vino. Sin dal 1300 gli abitanti di Livigno preferivano avere rapporti economici con la vicina Svizzera sia per motivi politici, sia per la maggior facilità degli accessi. Anche la stessa assistenza sanitaria si appoggiava ai medici svizzeri perché ritenuti più esperti dei "mali" e delle cure in uso a quei tempi.

Il comune di Livigno gode dello status di zona extradoganale, grazie alla Legge n. 516 del 17 luglio 1910, ed è pertanto esente da alcune imposte, come ad esempio l'IVA. Questo status, risale alle speciali deroghe che la comunità locale riuscì ad ottenere, sin dal 1538 dalla Contea di Bormio, successivamente confermate da normative e convenzioni succedutesi nel corso dell'Ottocento e del Novecento.
Questo ha facilitato lo sviluppo del turismo, rendendo Livigno una fantastica meta non solo per lo sci, ma anche per fare acquisti.

Livigno, part of the Sondrio municipality, is located over 1800mts. above sea level., it is the most northern village of Lombardia and the most populous of all the Italian towns above 1500mts. of altitude.
The country stretches along 15km of road through the valley crossed by the stream Spöl (originally called "Aqua Granda"), whose waters come into the river Inn and from there into the Danube.

Livigno is located on land that originally belonged to the Capuchin Monastery of Bunch and was transferred to the Community of Bormio in exchange for a barrel of wine. Since 1300 the residents of Livigno preferred to have economic relations with neighboring both Switzerland for political reasons, and for ease of access. The same care was leaning to the Swiss medical experts because they consider the "evils" and the treatment in use at that time.

The town of Livigno enjoys the status of tax-free area, thanks to the Law 516 of July 17, 1910, and is therefore exempt from certain taxes such as VAT.
