Flash Mobs
This event is a 15-minute "Flash Mob" of geocachers! We will be coordinating our event to happen at the same time as hundreds of others all around the world.

About This Event
  • Event coordinates are taken from GCYZJ8. The location is popular with local ice cream aficionados.
  • There's plenty of parking but you should be sure to allow for time to get from a parking spot to the overflow picnic area north of the building.
  • If you want ice cream, please arrange to get it BEFORE the event start time so we can disperse quickly at 1:15 pm.
  • Remember to pretend that you are a non-cacher! You should act like you don't know any of the other geocachers that may be present.
  • To claim the event, you must be present and you must drop a properly prepared log sheet into the marked container at the designated time.
  • There will be a two designated buckets--one for log sheets, one for trackables--plus a swag bag with trade items.
Log Sheet Requirements
A properly prepared log sheet must include the geocaching name(s) that will be logging the event and the total number of people in your party. Additionally, feel free to include comments, feedback and trivia for the amusement of the "I Scream, You Scream" FM staff who will be assembling your sheets into a log book for the event.

Event Timeline
This event will last EXACTLY 15 minutes, not one second longer.

1:00 pm - First whistle
We will blow a single blast on a whistle at the designated coordinates to start the event. You should converge on the area, drop your prepared log sheets and trackables into the designated buckets and check out the swag bag. Feel free to mingle and chat with your fellow cachers until the start of the main attraction.

1:05 pm - Second whistle
We will blow two blasts on the whistle at the designated coordinates to reverse the flow of trackables. If you want to take a trackable with you, we ask that you blind pick from the bucket at this time. If you get a trackable that you brought, swap it with someone else before the event ends.

1:08 pm - Third whistle
We will blow three blasts on a whistle at the designated coordinates to assemble for a group picture. Participation in the group picture is optional since we intend to post it online. If you want to participate, but are terribly camera shy, hunker down behind the group and wave your hand over their heads.

1:10 pm - Fourth whistle
We'll blow four blasts for "Freeze Frame"! All participants should freeze in place and STAY FROZEN UNTIL THE NEXT WHISTLE. Think ahead of time about what pose you will be in at freeze frame so you will not be uncomfortable or off balance. During freeze frame there should be no talking and no moving.

1:12 pm - Fifth whistle
Our ears are tired by now so we'll drop back to a single blast for this one. As soon as the whistle is blown, we would like everyone to say aloud, "oh my, look at the time, I must hurry or I shall be late!" You should then resume your motion, clean up and prepare to leave.

1:15 pm - Sixth and final whistle
Okay, we have our wind back now so listen for the six whistle blasts as your indication to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! SHOO FLY! GIT! Log bucket, trackables bucket, swag bag all closed and sealed. If you arrive on the sixth whistle, you missed the event.

After the Event
If you would like to cache in the area after the event or just hang out a bit longer, we will be providing free caching advice and general camaraderie immediately following the event in a parking lot at coordinates N35° 30.733 W078° 44.471 nearby.
