A Holistic Point of View Traditional Geocache

I went on a quest to find this rock after seeing the old photo in the book "Jan Smuts - Man of Courage and Vision" by Antony Lentin. And now you can find it too!

This Smuts Rock can be found about 40m along a faint path that leads off Smuts Track, close to Maclears Beacon. The cache itself is a further 40m along on the same faint path, then down and to the right.

NB: the cache is just one level removed from a sheer cliff as well as next to a surprising hole in the ground, so please be careful. You don't need to go near the edge of the cliff to retrieve the cache.

Also please note there's no need to blaze a trail through the fynbos. There's that proverbial "faint path", and when you're close to the cache (if you leave this path perpendicular instead of angled-as-the-crow-flies) you'll find with some careful rock-stepping you can get down to cache level with minimal damage to botanical diversity.

By a happy chance, this cache was hidden on the 141st anniversary of the birth of Jan Smuts.
