•Sefydlwyd yr Urdd ym 1922 i roi cyfle i blant a phobl
ifanc i ddysgu ac i gymdeithasu drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg.
The Urdd Eisteddfod is a week long festival of Welsh song, dance
and culture. It is held once a year and travels around Wales and
organised by the Urdd movement which seeks to help children learn
and socialise through the medium of Welsh.
The 2011 Eisteddfod was held on the site of the Former Felindre
Timplate Works which opened in 1956 during the boom in British
tinplate manufacturing.
In 1970 it employed 2,500 people and produced 490,000 tonnes per
annum, but it declined in the 1980s and closed in 1989.
The site has hosted the Wales Rally GB service park on several
occassions.
Although looking like barren land when the site is not occupied,
it is earmarked for redevelopment.
Parking available close by.
