Geocache Description:

An easy drive-by [or cycle-by or walk-by]

I have been trying to find out why this area is called Wath but have been unable to. The gazeteer lists four Waths in North Yorkshire. This one is between three nice villages [Copgrove, Farnham & Staveley] to the North East of Harrogate and Knaresborough. A nice area to cycle in and there are many footpaths and bridleways for a good walk. Thanks to bike-it for the origin of the name Wath [log, 19 June 2011]. Wath Bridge is the nearest landmark named on the OS map and is just round the corner, near Wath Cottages.
