Pleasant Valley Sanatorium was a Tuberculosis hospital on this site from 1910-1954.It started off as a wooden house with a few shelters.A large doctors residence was erected in 1912 and more shelters and improvements were made right up until its closure in 1954.The shelters were T&G inside with wooden floors and vents which had to be open night and day, winter and summer. They had French doors at the front, casement windows at the back and no heating.
It was brought by the Baptist church a few years after the closure of the hospital and was used for church camps, youth camps, conferences and accomodation.
It was converted into a Holiday Camp in the 1980s and became a very popular venue for weddings and various group meetings.A well known place for eating, sleeping and partying all on the same property safely.
The camp closed in 2003 due to declining usage and the shelters and other removeble buildings were all sold off destined for sleepouts, backpacker accomodation and studios.
It is now private residences with little trace of what used to be here
