Geocache Description:

Tasiast Geocache to give bored workers something to do on an RDO or lazy afternoon.

Thought I'd hide a Geocache here to introduce my mates in the exploration department to a new challenge.

This cache sat unfound for months in a really easy spot so I moved it to a new location, outside the fence.
If you are new to Geocaching please find the cache, write in the log book and place it back in its spot.

This Cache is for Employees or Contractors at Tasiast and visitors to Mauritania who wish to venture off the main road. Dont attempt to drive right up to the cache, you will either get bogged in sand or the rocks will shred your tyres. Expect about a 200m walk. When driving the main road to Nouadibou, turn inland when your GPS says about 45km.

Cache is on top of the highest point around. From here you can see the Contractors Camp, Heap Leach processing plant, Main plant and camp, waste dumps and West Branch open cut pit.
The fences dissapear way off into the distance.

As usual, beware of snakes, scorpions and always take plenty of water. From here you will get Mauritel and Chingtel phone reception.

Original cache contents include: Logbook, pencil, $5 phone card, some foreign money, a few tram and train tickets and some pins. Take something along for a swap.

If you have kids or grandkids, it adds a whole new dimension to the game.

When you get home, do a search around your local area. You will probably find there are a few Geocaches within walking distance from your home.
