Historic Hamilton: Museum Of Steam & Technology Historic Hamilton will be a series of caches that serve to bring cachers to historic places in and around the City of Hamilton. These caches can be placed by anyone, and are not limited to one CO. If you know of a historic place that you would like to bring people to, feel free to add it to the series! Cache is located at the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology, which is a National Historic Site of Canada.
This is a very straight forward multi. Stage 1 will bring you to a cairn. On the side of the cairn, there is a 4 digit number written in stone. Take this number and divide it by 1000, and you will end up with x.xxx. SUBTRACT this number from the following coords to get the final: 43 18.243, 79 48.779. The FINAL is within 1.5KM. Cache is a small lock n lock that has a logbook. Cache is a straight-forward park and grab. Bring your own writing instrument to sign the log and re-hide as found or better. A magnificent example of 19th century public works architecture, designed by Thomas Coltrin Keefer and built by the City of Hamilton from 1856-1859. Preserved here are two 45-foot high, 70-ton steam engines which pumped the first clean water to the city over 140 years ago. Engine operation is demonstrated every day. Noted as Canada's most significant group of pre-Confederation pumphouse buildings, this is the only surviving facility of its time in North America. The museum is a National Historic Site and a Civil and Power Engineering Landmark. These Canadian made engines are the oldest surviving examples in the nation.
