Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Silver State National Peace Officers Museum in Virginia City which features one of the largest and finest United States Law enforcement collections known to exist. Housed in the historic 1876 Storey County Jail, you will step back in time to see what life was like behind bars in the 1800s.

You will see the tools of the early lawmen; the guns, badges, batons and rattles and see the evolution of police restraint devices, from those made by the local blacksmith to production pieces used to grab a person's arm and command control.

In the Memorial Room you can pay tribute to those officers who have lost their lives in service to the citizens of Nevada.

Let your children enjoy the Kid's Station while you take in the rich history of the museum. Who knows, you just may see a ghost. See a picture of one near the counter.

The museum is open May 1st through October 31st from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed during the winter. There is a $5.00 entrance fee and all monies go to maintain the museum and keep it open.

After talking with the owner we decided to move the cache so you will be able to reach it without going into the museum (but hope you will).

For more information on the Museum go to their web page: (visit link)

Please note if the Museum or Court house is open you can get to the cache.
