Nagle's Hill radio site Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is located on the summit of Nagle's Hill where several radio masts now reside.
There are several paths up here that can be accessed from the Killavullen to Cork road, Cloghvoolia, or walk up directly from Killavullen village
Elevation: 409m (according to my inaccurate GPS)
The cache itself is a Bunalun Organic tomatoe puree jar with several items inside but mostly pencils and a piosa páipéar.
No rocks need to be removed to find the cache although moss might obscure your view of where its hidden.
The radio masts are used for mobile phone networks (GSM and UMTS), FM radio and several other things. If you are a Meteor or '3' (maybe Vodafone and Ohtue also) customer you will get a most excellent signal up here.
There are grand wide paths on this hill but some are slightly narrower depending on which way you go. There are paths all the way up to the mast but to get at the cache itself you will have to go between a couple of Christmas trees.
While placing the cache I noticed it was exactly 8 and a half degrees west. Perhaps this was done on purpose when they were building the mountain
