Geocache Description:

Norsk:

English:
In the spring of 1995, The eastern part of Norway was hit by flooding. One man died, 7,000 people were evacuated, and there was damage for about 1.8 billion Nkr. The reason for the flood was plenty of snow in the mountains, and late snow melting combined with heavy rain.

At the Norwegian Forest Museum you can see a stone that marks the flood elevation in the river Glomma. This shows that the flood culminated on the 2’th of June at 70 cm above the 1934 flood and 61 cm below the flood in 1789. Water entering in Glomma was tremendous. At Rånåsfoss they measured a water speed of 1m / s and a waterflow of 4,000 m³ / s.

The cache is a cylindrical plastic container with a log and pen
