The small
airport of Koh
Samui has
always been a specil highlight of the isle. It belongs to "Bangkok
Airways" that, untill December 2007, managed to be the only company
allowed to fly to the holiday island.
After years of arguments and long negotiations the national airways
"Thai Airways" is allowed to land here regularly as well.
Due to a tastefull architecture in the local's
stil, reed
covered and open all around buildings the airport manages to give
the impression to have landed on a tropical island
It began to start it's operations back in 1989. That time plane of
the type "Dash 8" were used. These consisted of 36 seats and there
were flight to Koh Samui 3 times a day.
Some years later the runway was slightly extended and the planes
exchanged for the bigger ATR 42 & ATR 72. Meanwhile even smaller Jets like the
B737 and
A319/320 land
here. Up to 17 flights to Bangkok alone are operated a day.
Furthermore flights with destinations Phuket, Krabi, Utapao (Pattaya) and Chiang Mai commence
frome
here.
Daily flights to Singapore and Hongkong complete the program of Bangkok
Airways.
The cache
is a little off but still central. Please be
carefull
at lifting and putting it back, so that it can look forward
to living a long life

Der kleine Airport in Koh Samui war schon immer ein besonderes Highlight der Insel. Er
befindet sich im Privatbesitz von Bangkok Airways, die es somit
auch bis Dezember 2007 geschafft hatte, als einzige
Fluggesellschaft die Ferieninsel anfliegen zu dürfen. Nach
jahrelangem Streit und zähen Verhandlungen darf seitdem nun auch
die staatliche Fluggesellschaft Thai Airways die Insel regelmäßig
anfliegen.
Durch eine geschmackvolle Architektur im einheimischen Stil, mit
riedgedeckten Dächern und rundum offenen Gebäuden sorgt
schon der
Airport für das richtige Feeling auf einer tropischen Insel

Richtig in Betrieb genommen wurde er bereits 1989, damals flog man
noch mit Dash 8 Maschinen mit 36 Sitzplätzen und es gab 3 Flüge
täglich. Ein paar Jahre später wurde dann die Landbahn etwas
verlängert und die Flugzeuge gegen die größeren
ATR 42 &
ATR 72
ausgetauscht und inzwischen landen sogar kleinere Jets ala B 737
und A319/320
auf der Insel. Es gibt bis zu 17 Flüge täglich allein nach Bangkok
sowie weitere nach Phuket, Krabi, Utapao (Pattaya) und Chiang Mai. Tägliche, internationale Flüge
nach Singapur und Hongkong runden das Programm der Bangkok Airways
ab.

Der Cache ist etwas abseits aber dennoch
zentral versteckt. Seid bitte vorsichtig beim Bergen und wieder
Zurücklegen, damit er ein langes Leben hat.
