Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest

is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

There are over 800 graves at this active cemetery, with burials as recent as March of 2011. There are a number of graves dating back to the 1880s, and some of these are located near the front gate. The oldest recorded date of death seems to be from 1854, but as this is an outlier by roughly three decades, I suspect that a reinterment was involved. Note that you will not need to enter the site to find this cache. Also note that there is a Related Web Page link at the top of this page that will take you to a site with photos and details of this cemetery. Granted, it's an old Angelfire site, but there's still some interesting stuff there.
