A CACHE
A Geneta (Genetta genetta), é um dos animais de médio porte que habita a Serra de Sintra. A montanha parece ter sido feita à sua medida com buracos no chão ou criados por blocos graníticos e cursos de água são elementos fundamentais para o estabelecimento destes animais num local. Sintra proporciona-lhes tudo isto, em abundância.
É difícil ver este felino durante o dia, em plena Serra... Todavia, em alguns buracos é possível verificar a sua passagem ou sinais de se tratar da sua "habitação". A Geneta é um animal sedentário, que escolhendo um sítio para habitar nele permanece. 
A Geneta é muito ágil, o que facilita a sua deslocação na floresta, em Sintra. Na verdade, a sua agilidade e força permitem-lhe trepar a árvores e deslocar-se de ramo em ramo, assim como subir e descer enormes pedras (ou pilhas de pedras).
A sua dieta é composta por cobras e pequenos roedores, os quais existem em abundância em Sintra.
Actualmente, a Geneta encontra-se em dificuldades. A destruição dos seus habitats naturais tem reduzido substancialmente as suas áreas de caça, permanência e reprodução.
A cache faz juz à dificuldade da Geneta em sobreviver, colocando-se fora do alcance dos rastejantes e caminhantes...
THE GENET
The genet (Genetta Genetta), is a medium sized animal that inhabits the Sintra Mountain. The mountain seems to have been made for her: the holes in the ground or those set up by granite blocks and waterways are key elements for the establishment of these animals in one place. Sintra gives them all of this in abundance.
It´s hard to spot this feline during the day, in the mountain... However, on some holes you can check signs of their passing or of their "housing" arrangements . The genet is a sedentary animal, that makes his permanent home in the place originally chosen.
The genet is very agile, which makes their movement in the forest of Sintra easier. In fact, his agility and strength allows it to climb trees and move from branch to branch, as well as up and down huge stones (or piles of stones).
Her diet consists of small rodents and snakes, which abound in Sintra.
Currently, the survival of the genet in Sintra is at risk. The destruction of its natural habitats has substantially reduced their hunting, stay and reproduction areas.
The cache lives up to the difficulty of the genet in surviving, putting itself out of reach of crawlers and walkers, alike...
