Geocache Description:

This is a summer friendly cache only, well unless you bring a shovel;) Please pull off of Smith road onto Wallace rd. you can park right on the non used portion, there is almost always no traffic. From there you can witness the tree and go hunting for the cache. It is located on State land and should be muggle free and don't be concerned about the surrounding houses, they are aware that I've planted a cache there:)

First to find get their choice of some trinkets and I think we put a $1 in there too, not %100 sure, we placed it last year and forgot to list it on here.

WITNESS TREE
"This sugar maple was marked on September 26,1850 during the general land office independent re-survey of lands in this part of Michigan, the tree was ten inches in diameter at that time. The surveyor was Lucius Lyon. Lyon served as Michigan surveyor general from 1845 - 1850.

This witness tree serves as a reference to the section corner common to section 8, 9, 16, & 17 township 28 north range 7 west. Donation for & placement of this sign provided by the Northern Chapter of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors"
