Behind our work runs a disused Railway line now turned into a Public Footpath called 'Lakenham Way' running from Queens Road (the old Station) to Sandy Lane Norwich where it joins the main line to London, Approximately 1 1/4 miles in length
We have placed 4 caches along Lakenham way. Lakenham way, Happy Birthday and Lakenham way 2&3 You will need to BYOP for them all
Starting from Sandy Lane the first point of interest is the banks at the beginning. These have been sown with wildflower seed and make a splendid display with Vipers Bugloss, Red and White Campion, Toadflax and Ox-eye Daisy amongst others. These in turn attract an impressive array of butterflies - Comma, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown, Tortoishell, Peacock, Small Skipper, Gatekeeper, Holly Blue and Red Admiral.
The next section affords ample chances to admire the frequently-spotted shopping trolley in its natural habitat - face down in a ditch, (although a visit in Autumn will be rewarded with large quantities of blackberries) before we come under the first bridge and into the wooded section. Here the steep sided banks rear up on both sides, affording good views of various small birds - green and gold finches as wells as sparrows, wrens, starlings and blackbirds.
*** CONGRATULATION TO NOMADSKI ON FTF WITH IN 3 HOURS OF IT BEING PUBLISHED !!!! **
Parking can be found at the Nearby Retail Park off Sandy Lane. just walk down Sandy lane on to the start of the path or you could start the other end at Queens road which is only 5-10 minute walk from the bus station
