Happy Birthday, Ron! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Fergus and Tessa: After seeing a couple of DNFs I went out to check on this cache last night and saw that it has, in fact, disappeared. This one's had a pretty good run. with maintenance being what it is in this location, I'm going to cede the spot to someone else. Thanks!

Geocache Description:

June 5 is the birthday of the infamous upstate New York geocacher Ron Sitler (one half of gram&poppop). And we (his son-in-law and daughter) placed this cache to honor the man who started us off on our geocaching adventure. Happy birthday, Ron!

We know you'd love this location: great ocean views in a little-known corner of Long Beach. The Peninsula neighborhood is one of the city's best kept secrets - and well of the beaten path, with only one road in an out. And, the cache location itself, Alamitos Park, is a real gem. Only a quarter acre at the very end of the peninsula, this lovely spot is a terrific place to have a picnic, watch the sun go down, or take Fido for a nice walk. We were suprised there weren't any caches here already!

For those who venture out, this should be a pretty easy park and grab. The cache itself is a small container with just enough room for the log and maybe one or two small, coin type trade items. BYOP! There's a Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area pin for the FTF, and we also placed a special birthday travel bug that's trying to make its way back to upstate New York to wish Ron happy birthday in person.

After you sign the log, please place the cache back EXACTLY as you found it. Thanks!
