Geocache Description:

St. Martin's is the third largest of the islands, located at the northeast corner of the Isles of Scilly archipelago. It is the first island that you see as you travel to the Isles of Scilly from the mainland.

The character of the island, is very much like its neighbour Tresco, with habitats ranging from the rugged, heather clad, cliffs of the north shore - shaped over the centuries by the relentless action of the North Atlantic's winter gales - to the more sheltered southern aspect, characterised by small enclosed flower fields above sheltered sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

The island has three small settlements Lower Town, Middle Town and Higher Town. The population of the Island was recorded as 142 in 2001.
The Island has a Hotel, Church, Pub,    Post Office with a  shop and two cafes.

St. Martin's has a daily boat service, ferrying passengers to the other main islands as well as fishing trips and special hire. From early May you can enjoy the evening trips to watch the famous gig races.

This cache site is very close to Flagstaff (two large foundation rocks) which offers a 360 degree view across the island of St.Martins.

The cache is a small lock box which contains small items and a £1 coin for the first to find.
The cache site is very close to the coast path which can be very busy by IOS standards. Please be aware of muggles and note that the cache isnot located in the dry stonewall nearby.
