The Texas Spirit
Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near
cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the
many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before
us.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities
across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The
cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries,
tombstones and local
lore.
This is a small family cemetery (for Nelsons, Pearsons,
Blomquists, and one Schlab) with graves dating from 1897 through
2011. There are 19 recorded burials here at this fenced site, which
is reasonably well-kept. It is about .3 miles down the unpaved
Rawls Road (the rightmost lane as viewed from Hokanson). **DO NOT
VISIT AT NIGHT.** You do not need to enter the grounds, as the
cache is located just a little to the south of the gate. Note that
the road is pretty rough, so do not attempt to access this site
with fragile vehicles or whilst sipping a brimming mug of steaming
hot coffee.
