4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

A Little Bit Of History In Finley

Welcome to another Blacklegend cache hide...

Another historical location in Finley. I couldn't go past placing a cache here. This is a very compact multi cache, with only a start WP and Final and a short walk. At the starting WP, you will have to read a couple of information boards to gather a few clues to final location. Pretty simple stuff. In fact, the kids could help with this one.

Below is a pic of the log cabin. Associated with the log cabin, which is a replica of the original log cabin, is the historical museum. Strangely, there is not a lot of internet information on the log cabin itself, however, i'm sure the historical museum has lots of info therin.

Of interest, is that Finley was the first NSW town to be selected for a Pioneer Railway Station. Have a read of the brochure at the link below.

Finley Railway History

TO FIND GZ....

Well its really simple really. Just a couple bits of information to gather. Firstly read the information board titled "Schenak Singh".

AB = The age of Schenak Singh when he died
C = Number of horses that drew the wagons
D = C - F

Now read the sign titled The Murray Valley Trail

EF = Number of thousands of years talked about under item 4 - Cadell Tilt.
G = Number item titled Ancient River Bed.

The cache is at S 35° 39.(E+F-G)(A-4)(C-F) E 145° 34.(F-E)(B-3)(D)

That's about it folks, hope you have a bit of fun in the area. In the near future, i hope to make a few of the geologic features spoken about on the Murray Valley Trail sign the subject of an earth cache or two.

The container is about a 400ml cliptop container, which look like they are better than Sistemas, and a bit cheaper when bought in a set. This is a high muggle area, I had some trouble placing the cache. It is a little way off the road, and there is parking available. The kids could help search.

As always, with the Newell Highway nearby, please be extremely careful with little kiddies. Snakes could be a problem here, but i would say not as much so as the bush. Worth keeping a look out for them. Have fun and keep on caching....

Check the hint. Sign is gone. Coords for final are in the hint. I'm sick of the trouble I have had in Finley. Grab a multi stat for this one.....
