This cache is in a black micro container. It is a little larger than a film canister. There is room for 1 or 2 trading items depending on size of item. It contains a logbook and small pencil. At the moment it contains a Tancook Island souvenier and a Pirates of the Carribbean coin from Disneyworld. Happy Hunting!!!
History of Postal Service on Tancook Island -
Postal service started around 1867 in a private home.
The second Post Office was origionally owned by William and Idella Stevens. Idella was the postal officer. All the kids would pack into the porch to wait for the mail to be sorted. A big sliding door was used for parcels. When a parcel came Willy would shout "Parcel" and would toss it outside.
There is a new owner of this home today. The origional markings are still in the porch ceiling.
The current post office opened in 1967.
Although there is a pencil inside, it is always good to carry your own writing tools in case pencil lids get broken or pens no longer write.
Congrats to Majomik & Gee+Gee on FTF!
