Geocache Description:


Junction 11 of the M4 had become a real bottleneck over many years causing congestion in and around the junction – Reading's main traffic gateway. Reading Borough Council working in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council and the Highways Agency planned and led the implementation of the £65 million transport improvement scheme.

The scheme consists of a new four-lane motorway junction with two new strategic road bridges around the existing motorway junction. The existing road bridges have been retained, with one solely for pedestrians and cyclists and the other for buses. The scheme also includes two new signalised junctions south of the M4 on the A33 Swallowfield by-pass in Shinfield. The whole area has also been made greener by planting trees and shrubs to complement the scheme.

The cache is located the south east side of the new pedestrian / cycle footbridge which connects the path from Three Mile Cross on the east side of the A33 to Whitley and RIBP on the north of the M4. Please place the cache back exactly where you found it.
