Geocache Description:

Blue Gum Swamp Gateway

Blue Gum Swamp is a great spot for bushwalking and spotting native wildlife. There are also a handful of caches around, so this one adds to the collection and aims to tempt a few more cachers to this area.

The swamp is named after a stand of tall Sydney blue gums, Eucalyptus deanei, that grow in and around the valley floor. You can tell the soil is rich with nutrients. This supports a wide range of flora and fauna.

There is a great little(?) circuit that can be walked or cycled, and a few extended walks that can take you to spots overlooking the Grose River or out to a ridge that ends up coming to St Columbas Secondary College (note: this is private property).
